Rainforest data

Today we looked at some data about rainforests. We talked about what the data showed and came up with thoughts, feelings and questions about the data to show we understood.

Have a look at this graph. What is it telling us? How do you feel about this? Challenge: Can you think of any questions to go with this graph that others could try and answer? e.g. What was the remaining forest cover in Kalimantan in 1985? How much more cover was there in Sabah & Sarawak?

  1. This graph is showing the deforestation in Sabah and Sarawak, and Kalimantan.

I feel sad about this graph because lots of animals are becoming extinct and some of them we haven’t even discovered yet.

  2. This graph tells me that in 1985 about 50.5 raemaning forest cover was in Sabah and Sarawak .In kalamantan there was exact 40.0
    Raemaning forest cover.In kalamantan (2000)there was 30.0
Forest cover left and in Sabah and Sarawak there was about 40.1 forest cover left.in 2005 in kalamantan there was 20.5 forest cover left. And in Sabah and Sarawak there was 30.7 forest cover left.

Challenge : how much more forest cover was left in 1985 all together ?

How much forest cover was pradicted that there would be in 2020?

What is the difference between the forest cover in 2005 and 2010
